Hertfordshire County Council

Outside body

Local Government Association General Assembly

Description

The LGA are a politically-led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems. Each local authority in full or corporate or voting associate membership of the Association shall be entitled to appoint one democratically elected local representative to the General Assembly. In areas with both a county and district councils, each district council shall have one vote and the county council shall have votes equal to the number of district councils in its area. So Hertfordshire has 10 votes.

The General Assembly meets once per year in July at International Conference Centres throughout the UK. Previous general assemblies have been held in Bournemouth, Birmingham and Harrogate
