WasteAware is the partnership of Hertfordshire's county, district and borough councils, working together to reduce, reuse and recycle Hertfordshire's waste. ?It promotes waste awareness through recycling education, campaigns, events and useful tips to help resients be WasteAware. It works closely with the Waste Management Unit who manage the disposal of waste across Hertfordshire including the management of 17 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC's).
The role of each Authority’s appointed Member is to both represent their own Authority as well as to promote and support the role of the Partnership when discussing waste issues within their own Authorities. Under the terms of the Herts Waste Partnership Agreement (a fully legally binding agreement) the Partner Authorities are required to appoint 1 Member, who normally is expected to be the portfolio holder for waste management, as well as one substitute Member. The meetings are held quarterly (January, April, July and October),start at 2pm and last for between 2 – 3 hours. Meetings are held at Dacorum Borough Council (The Forum).
